My name is Emma. I grew up in France, deeply connected to my Congolese heritage, and immigrated to Canada in 2013.
Growing up between cultures shaped the way I see beauty not as one standard we should all try to fit into, but as a reflection of identity, history and belonging.
As a Black woman, finding products thoughtfully created for melanin-rich skin and textured hair was often more difficult than it should have been. Too many shopping experiences left us feeling overlooked, underrepresented or treated as an afterthought.
I knew Black women deserved something better.
My entrepreneurial journey led me to create The Melanin Beauty, a carefully curated destination where Black women can shop with confidence, feel understood and discover brands created with their beauty in mind.

This is more than a beauty store. It is a space built with intention, a home for elevated products, meaningful representation and the belief that our beauty should never be an afterthought.
